About Ron...

Ron is a native Oklahoman.  He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  His parents are Stanley Ray and Margie (Smith) Peters.  He has been married to Bonnie LaVerne (Swenke) for 44 years, and they have two children, Gregory James Peters and Ronda (Mrs. Chris) Falkensten, and six grandchildren, Jordan, Isabella and Samuel Peters, Logan, Kadin and Ethan Falkensten.

A record of service

Ron Peters is a devoted community volunteer, working to make a difference in people’s lives.  Ron continually works to improve our public education system, to prevent and treat child abuse; and to help terminally ill patients.  Before being elected to the State Legislature, Ron had already worked for many years to make Tulsa and Oklahoma a better place to live.  He has served in the following capacities:

·         President of the Board of Directors of the Parent Child Center of Tulsa, working to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect.

·         President of the Board of Directors of Hospice of Green Country, working to ensure that those with a terminal illness can live their last days at home, with dignity, surrounded by their family and friends.

·         Board of Directors for the Tulsa Boys Home helping troubled youth turn their lives around.

·        Board of Directors of Junior Achievement working with students to increase their understanding of the free enterprise system

·         Foundation Board of Advisors of Rogers State University, helping raise and manage assets so a quality education could be offered to those who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend college.

·       President of the Church Council at Ascension Lutheran Church helping to grow and expand our church's outreach.

·         Member of the Board of Directors for Clarehouse whose mission is to provide a loving facility from which to provide quality end of life care.

Appreciation Expressed:

  • Inducted in to the Child Advocates Hall of Fame during the annual Friends of Children celebration of the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.
  • Recognized as a "Dreamcatcher" for work to prevent child abuse and neglect by the Tulsa Community Service Council
  • "Great Spirit" award received from the March of Dimes for his work to improve the health of young children.
  • Presented the 2003 Marion Jacewitz Award by the State Interagency Child Abuse Prevention Task Force for his legislation to prevent child abuse and neglect.
  • Received the "Guardian Angel" award from the Parent Child Center of Tulsa for statewide work to address the needs of those at highest risk of committing child abuse and neglect.
  • Received the "Jefferson Fellow" award, which is the highest award and honor that can be bestowed by Rogers State University, for dedicated service to the University.
  • Acknowledged as an "Everyday Hero" by the American Red Cross, Tulsa Chapter.

A history of achievement

Ron worked in the corporate world for Occidental Oil and Gas Corporation, a Fortune 500 Company, before launching, and becoming President of RelationsInc., a public relations firm in 1997.  During his tenure at Oxy, Ron directed their Government Affairs effort, so he understood how government works, and what it would take to be an effective legislator.  Past professional affiliations include:
